Junior Accountant - Head Office (FTC)

Role Overview

The Junior Accountant will join the finance team on a maternity cover basis, supporting month-end reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, cash flow reporting, stock reporting and statutory submissions. This is a development role suited to someone building their finance experience, with exposure to core accounting processes, financial controls, audit support and continuous improvement activity across the business.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Supporting month-end accounting, including accruals, prepayments and stock journals

  • Preparing and supporting balance sheet reconciliations

  • Assisting with weekly cash flow forecasting and reporting

  • Supporting store performance reporting

  • Supporting Head Office cost reporting and analysis

  • Preparing ONS and other statutory/regulatory submissions

  • Supporting external audit requests

  • Supporting SOX control execution, documentation and testing

  • Supporting continuous improvement of financial processes and controls

  • Supporting stock reporting and analysis

  • Assisting other areas of the finance team when required

Suggested Essential Experience:

  • Studying towards an accounting qualification, or looking to begin ACCA/CIMA/ACA studies

  • Experience working in a finance team or finance-related role

  • Experience preparing or supporting month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments and stock-related postings

  • Balance sheet reconciliation experience, or exposure to reconciliation processes

  • Experience supporting financial reporting and analysis

  • Strong Excel skills

  • Good attention to detail, organisation and communication skills

  • Understanding of financial controls and compliance requirements

Additional Experience Beneficial to the Role:

  • Experience supporting SOX or other controls frameworks

  • Experience within a retail or multi-site business

  • Knowledge of FRS 102

  • Exposure to lease accounting, including lease data management, accounting entries and reporting requirements
